The Twenty-Fourth Judicial District Court has original jurisdiction of all civil and criminal matters in Jefferson Parish, with the exception of certain juvenile matters. The Twenty-Fourth Judicial District Court has appellate jurisdiction of all city courts in Jefferson Parish. There are 16 elected divisions of court in the District Court system. There is also a Criminal Commissioners Court, as well as a Domestic Commissioner Court.
Effective 9:01 a.m., Monday, February 8, 2010, through 9:00 a.m., Monday, February 15, 2010, the following judge and court commissioner will assume the following duties:
Criminal & Domestic Commissioner Patricia Joyce will assume the criminal duties of signing search warrants, arrest warrants, setting of bonds and of committing magistrate AND domestic duties. (cell: 818-8508 & office: 364-3927)
Judge June Berry Darensburg, Division "C" will assume non domestic civil duties ONLY.
This applies to the 24th Judicial District Court charges only. Under the rules of Court the above Judge/Commissioner should be contacted initially while serving for matters involving the District Court.
